Driver injured in four-car I-15 pileup in Davis

FARMINGTON — A man was seriously injured Thursday in a four-vehicle accident on Interstate 15.

A man driving north on I-15 told police he had set the cruise control in his truck but did not realize that traffic ahead of him was slowing down, Utah Highway Patrol Trooper Colby Vanderbeek said.

Around 6 p.m., the man swerved in an attempt to avoid hitting a Toyota at Mile Marker 224, but failed, Vanderbeek said. He hit the Toyota, which hit the Chevy Tahoe in front of it, which hit the Honda in front of it.

The man’s truck also fell on its side, and fire crews had to extricate him from it. He was flown by helicopter to a local hospital in serious condition. He was also cited for the accident.

The driver of the Honda also was taken to a hospital with neck and back pain.

The crash blocked the three left lanes, leaving only the two right lanes open and creating delays. The scene was clear by 7:30 p.m.
