New group soliciting donations for police

OGDEN -- The Northern Utah Community Support Group will hold a donation event today to help wounded law enforcement officers.

The event is from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in front of the James Hansen Federal Building, 324 25th St.

The group was formed to help law enforcement officers wounded in the line of duty and their families after the Jan. 4 incident in which Ogden Officer Jared Francom was killed and five others injured.

At today's event, the group is collecting any donations, including games, movie passes, family recreation items or just cash to help with bills. Donors can sign a guest book, possibly meet some of the officers, and buy tickets for a March 2 benefit banquet.
