Parenting classes to begin on Saturdays

OGDEN -- Family Counseling Service of Northern Utah will offer an eight-week course for parents starting Feb. 11.

The Empowered Parenting class will teach parents and caregivers skills to improve family interactions and empower the family to function as a healthy unit.

The class will be held from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Saturdays at the Family Counseling Service offices at 3518 Washington Blvd. Facilitators are Julie Knopp and Brenda Hulphers, clinical social workers.

Subjects will include child-rearing beliefs, child developmental stages, communication, raising responsible children, effective discipline, nontraditional parenting, childhood development, emotional diagnoses and development, dealing with anger and defiant behaviors, and evaluating parental strengths.
