Pony Express route is Pioneers topic

LAYTON -- The old Pony Express route through Utah to Nevada will be the topic at this month's Sons of Utah Pioneers meeting.

The meeting will be at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Davis County Library Central Branch Auditorium, 155 N. Wasatch Drive.

Guests and history buffs are welcome, said Stephen G. Handy, spokesman for Sons of Utah Pioneers Snow Horse Chapter, North Davis area.

Tristan Larkins Geddes, of Clifton, Idaho, will be the speaker, Handy said. Geddes is the great-granddaughter of James Larkins, who rode the Pony Express route from Salt Lake City to Deep Creek, Nev.

Larkins became a prominent Davis County businessman and was a member of the first Barnes Bank board of directors.
