Good, stable marriages are on the agenda in Davis County, too.
The Davis County 2012 Head-Heart-Hands Celebration of Marriage offers the tools to make those ties that bind all the stronger.
The evening features a presentation by Salt Lake City-based relationship experts John and Kim Bytheway, "The Five Things You Can Do Right Now to Improve Your Marriage." The Bytheways collaborated on the book "What We Wish We'd Known When We Were Newlyweds" (Bookcraft, 2000).
Joanne Roueche, on faculty with the Utah State University Extension's family and consumer science division, said that while such marriage classes have been available for some time in Weber County, this is only the second year they've presented the event in Davis. Ticket are only $10 this year, thanks in part to co-sponsor Strongermarriage.com, a division of the Utah Commission on Marriage.
The event is for long-marrieds, newlyweds and those just thinking about tying the knot. Roueche notes that this event is extraordinarily helpful to people who are engaged, or who are planning to be in the near future.
"Studies have shown that the more information you go into marriage with, the more likely you are to succeed," said Roueche.
There will be door prizes, including marriage handbooks for those who fill out an evaluation on what they would like to learn at future marriage encounters.
