Gertrude G. Raymond of Ogden celebrated her 99th birthday with an open house at the home of Kyle Andersen on Saturday, Feb. 4.
She grew up in Eden, a daughter of Alexander Ross Graham and Marie Jorgensen Graham. She is the youngest of nine children and graduated from Weber High School in 1931.
She married Alma Ewing "AE" Raymond on Dec. 18, 1936. They had no children. He died Sept. 29, 1969.
She worked at the Ogden Arsenal during World War II, the Sanitary Laundry and Hill Air Force Base, retiring in May 1986 after 36 years of government service.
She joined the Ogden Benevolent Patriotic Order of Does, Drove No. 27, in 1975 and became secretary in 1978. She was secretary of the Drove for 24 years, leaving the office in December 2001. She has spent many hours volunteering and was selected by the Standard-Examiner as the recipient of the Volunteer of the Month Award.
Even though she has no children, she has many nieces and nephews. She has traveled extensively with the Does and is "Aunt Gert" to all the Elks and Does who know her across the United States.
