Monan Anderson Lovell

Monan Anderson Lovell celebrated his 80th birthday with an open house at his home in West Point on Saturday, Feb. 4.

The youngest of five boys, he was born on Feb. 4, 1932, in Oak City to Norma Anderson and Owen Lovell. He is married to the former Dorothy Pollard. They have a combined family of 10 children, 29 grandchildren and 36 great-grandchildren.

He served 12 years in the U.S. Air Force as a flight engineer. He traveled to 52 countries, logging a total of 18,000 flight hours. He served an additional 25 years in the Air Force Reserve.

After retiring from Hill Air Force Base, he and his wife moved to Nevada for 10 years. While there, they served three years in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Las Vegas Temple. They also served in the Colorado Denver South LDS Mission. When they returned to Utah in 2007, they served two years in the Ogden LDS Temple.

He enjoys traveling, golfing, wood carving, carpentry and gardening. He spends the majority of the summer at his cabin on Sunridge. Dancing is one of his favorite things to do. He spent many hours dancing with his wife in a group called the Foxy Trotters with good friends, Renn and Martha Goulding, Del and Joan Taylor, and Ike and Delores Vequilla. They entertained in nursing homes, church functions, and street festivals throughout Utah and Idaho.
