Verl Thompson

Verl Thompson of South Ogden celebrated his 85th birthday with his family at the Maddox Ranch House Restaurant.

He was born Jan. 30, 1927, in Clarkston to Ivan and Connie Griffin Thompson. He married Betty J. Blakeley on March 11, 1954, in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Logan Temple.

He worked for Swift and Co. and retired from Western General Dairy.

After serving a mission in Northern California, he enjoyed serving in many ward and stake church callings. He particularly enjoyed his many years of working in the Ogden Family History Library, eventually becoming the director.

Sports are an enjoyable pastime for him. Many a late evening is spent on the phone discussing Utah Jazz games with his brothers. He also enjoys gardening and sharing the produce from his garden with family and friends.

He enjoys spending time with his family. His four daughters and their spouses are Susan and Greg Bingham, West Jordan; Jean and Douglas Harding, Roy; Connie and Kevin Krause, West Point; and Mary and Wade Owen, North Ogden. He has 13 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
