Hearing scheduled for Stewart

 

 

 

OGDEN — The man charged in a deadly shootout with police during a drug raid is scheduled for an Ogden court appearance.

Prosecutors have charged Matthew David Stewart with one count of capital murder, seven counts of attempted aggravated murder, and marijuana cultivation after the Jan. 4 shootout at his Ogden home.

The charges include dangerous weapons enhancements.

The 37-year-old Army veteran has not yet entered a plea. If convicted, Stewart could face the death penalty

The case is set for a scheduling conference in Ogden’s 2nd District Court Tuesday.

Weber-Morgan Narcotics Task Force Agent Jared Francom was killed in the shooting. Five other officers were injured.
