Ogden SWAT incident ends with arrests, no injuries

OGDEN — A SWAT incident ended with the arrest of several people Tuesday afternoon.

Police Lt. Danielle Croyle said the incident began about 1:30 p.m. when the Joint Criminal Apprehension Team — a multijurisdictional task force that seeks parole violators and other fugitives — went to Apartment 5 at 3091 Eccles Ave. Seven people were in the apartment when officers knocked on the door. Two came out voluntarily, but five refused.

JCAT officers called SWAT and Ogden police K-9 units.

Officers entered the building again, and one person would not comply with their orders, Croyle said.

He was bitten on the arm by one of the police dogs, Croyle said, and suffered a superficial wound that was treated at the scene.

The incident was wrapped up around 3:45 p.m. Numerous police cars lined the street where the incident took place.

Among those taken into custody was Roman Nolan Hernandez, 27, of Ogden. He was the subject of a no-bail warrant for his arrest, said Police Lt. Tony Fox.

Hernandez is a known member of the Ogden Trece street gang, Fox said.

Six others were taken into custody. Their names and possible charges were not available Tuesday night.

Croyle said no weapons or drugs were found at the apartment.
