Plain City to trade in old backhoe

PLAIN CITY — Council members approved the trade-in of a backhoe and purchase of a new backhoe.

Councilman Bruce Higley said with the trade, the new backhoe will cost the city only $16,000.

It will be purchased from Maw Equipment.

The new backhoe will have a higher reaching capacity and comes with a light bar on top.

It has a full cab with a heater.

Higley said the old backhoe is four years old and has approximately 1,000 hours on it.

Higley said the cost for a similar backhoe with no trade-in would be about $45,000.
