Toddler killed in West Jordan crash; mom, infant hurt

WEST JORDAN, Utah  — Police are identifying a 2-year-old girl who died in a crash with a cement truck in West Jordan that also injured a mother and her son.

West Jordan police say Mary Stone was killed in the crash that happened about 4:30 p.m. Monday at the intersection of State Road 111 and Old Bingham Highway.

Police say the cement truck hit the car and pushed it into an open field, although it’s unclear what caused the crash.

Officials say the mother and two children were trapped in the vehicle until rescuers freed them. The 24-year-old Melissa Stone was transported to the hospital by helicopter. Police say she is now in stable condition.

The 7-month-old Lawrence Stone was taken by ambulance to Primary Children’s Hospital in stable condition.
