WSU women hope to snap record losing streak against Eagles

CHENEY, Wash. -- The Weber State University women's basketball team heads out on the road in Big Sky Conference action tonight, heading to the Pacific Northwest to take on Eastern Washington.

Tipoff between the Eagles and Wildcats is set for 7 p.m. at Reese Court.

It is the 71st all-time meeting between Weber State (0-10 Big Sky, 2-21 overall) and Eastern Washington (9-2, 15-9). The Wildcats lead the series by a commanding 44-26 margin, but the Eagles have captured seven straight meetings, including a 72-60 win at the Dee Events Center on Jan. 5.

Eastern Washington enters the matchup having won five straight games and trails league-leading Idaho State by one-half game.

Weber State has dropped 13 consecutive games dating back to a Dec. 10 victory over CSU Bakersfield at the Dee Events Center. It is the longest losing streak in school history, passing a 12-game streak that occurred from Feb. 20 to Dec. 29, 1992.

Junior forward Amanda Hughes is Weber State's leading scorer and rebounder this season, averaging 10.4 points and 8.3 rebounds in just over 25 minutes per game.

Junior guard Megan Patterson has hit 40 3-pointers this season, giving her 136 for her career. That ranks No. 8 in Weber State's career charts for 3-point field goals made. She needs just 10 more this season to move up to sixth.

Senior center Mikell Woodfield is second on the team in scoring and rebounding, averaging 10.5 points and 6.6 rebounds in 28 minutes.

On Saturday, Weber State will return home to host Northern Arizona at 5 p.m. The game will be Weber State's Breast Cancer Awareness night with the first 100 fans getting a free pink shirt.
