Bees, Falcons take home region wrestling crowns

SMITHFIELD -- As expected, the Bees and Mustangs battled for Region 5 wrestling supremacy.

And as expected, it was a nail-biter.

And perhaps as expected, the Box Elder squad had just enough extra in the tank to rise to the top following two days of wrestling at Sky View High School.

Box Elder finished with 367.5 points, followed by Mountain Crest at 353.5. Logan was at 214, followed by Logan (214.5), Roy (70) and Bonneville (43.5).

And make no mistake, every school in this region placed wrestlers in a championship match or two. It's just that the Bees and Mustangs have the depth to earn titles.

The rivalry will be renewed in two weeks at the state 4-A wrestling championships at Utah Valley University.

Newly crowned Region 6 champion Clearfield will also join the list of title contenders after the Falcons won the league title.
