Missing plane found; no sign of survivors

MOUNTAIN GREEN — Rescuers have located a missing Cessna 210 that disappeared Thursday night.

The plane was found 11:30 a,m., about 250 feet down a ravine, approximately nine miles northeast of the Mountain Green Airport, said Morgan CountySheriff’s Sgt. Jason Lee.

Lee said there are no indications of survivors and the operation has switched from a rescue to recovery mode.

The plane, which is believed to have carried a man and a woman, took off about 6 p.m. and was reported in trouble about 8 p.m.

Helicopters from the Department of Public Safety joined the search this morning and located the signal from the plane’s distress beacon.

Officials estimated it will take most of the day to make it to the crash site on foot, as searchers have to fight through deep snow and rugged terrain.

The plane was headed for Wyoming when it took off from Mountain Green.
