ROY -- The woman who owns the house where a body was found Thursday has been booked in Weber County Jail.
Sarah Nichole Munn, 31, of Roy, faces one count of second-degree felony obstructing justice and is being held in lieu of $10,000 bail.
Weber County Attorney Dee Smith said his office is reviewing the case before filing formal charges in 2nd District Court in Ogden.
As to what those exact charges will be and who will be charged, Smith said, "There is a lot more investigation that needs to be completed."
Munn told police she "can't imagine how a person got into her backyard," Roy Police Chief Greg Whinham said Friday.
Officers are treating the case as a potential homicide even though it is still officially a missing person case, he said.
Layton police served a warrant at Munn's residence Monday and looked for evidence concerning the disappearance of Victor Flores, 25, a California man who was reported missing by his family last May.
Flores was last seen in Layton.
"Officially, it's not a homicide case, but we're enacting everything as if it is," Whinham said. "It's unusual to have a body buried in the backyard of a house."
A body was found wrapped in several blankets and buried in the yard next to Munn's home, a duplex at 3812 W. 4550 South, Whinham said.
The body was to be removed Friday afternoon and taken to the state Medical Examiner's Office, where an autopsy will be conducted to determine the cause of death, Whinham said.
A medical examiner pathologist was at the scene Friday, examining the body and the area where the body was found, Whinham said.
Layton and Roy police, along with crime scene investigators, spent Friday sifting through mounds of soil, looking for more evidence.
Police dug two holes, filled them back up and then dug a third hole about 25 feet long and 25 feet wide where they found the body, Whinham said.
The street in front of the duplex was closed to traffic as police processed the crime scene.
"We want to thank the neighbors for being so patient, kind and accommodating," Whinham said. "This has been disruptive to their neighborhood."
Munn is listed as the owner of the property on Weber County's property tax records. According to the county website, no loan company is listed with the property.
Whinham said Munn had been living in the home until Monday, when police began digging for evidence.
After the body was found Thursday, officers talked to Munn and, "based on the conversation, arrested her for obstruction of justice," Whinham said.
Munn was charged Sept. 1 in 2nd District Court in Farmington with a third-degree felony obstruction of justice. A court hearing is set for Feb. 21 on that case.
She is represented by Ron Yengich in that case. An employee at Yengich's law firm said the defense attorney is out of town and unavailable for comment.
According to an arrest warrant filed Sept. 1 by Layton police, the charge is based on Munn being a girlfriend of "an individual who escaped while on work detail at the Weber County Jail on Aug. 4, 2011. The individual who escaped is also the primary suspect in a pending homicide investigation."
No further information was included about the homicide.
Whinham said Munn's boyfriend is Daniel Rivera, who was living in Layton and is considered a suspect in the Layton missing person case.
Munn told a Layton detective on Aug. 24 that she had not seen Rivera since he left jail, but someone else told police that Munn had been with the boyfriend at his residence the previous night.
A birth announcement in the Standard-Examiner in March 2011 shows Sarah Munn and Daniel Rivera are parents of a girl.
Layton police said Rivera was one of the last people known to have been with Flores.
Rivera is serving a sentence of up to five years in Utah State Prison for third-degree felony escape from official custody. The charge stemmed from Rivera leaving Weber County Jail on Aug. 4 while he was serving sentences on other charges. He was arrested in Wyoming in September.
As soon as police know the identity of the body found in the Roy yard, Whinham said, officers will question anyone who has been in contact with that individual.
