Olympic memories - Lee W. Stone

Standard-Examiner readers were invited to share their favorite 2002 Winter Olympic memories:

I was a volunteer ice maker for the 2002 curling events at the Weber County ice sheet. We had to work weeks in advance of the event to make sure the ice was perfectly level and all the info was painted on the ice. Then we had to maintain the ice daily during the games.

It was a great experience even though it was a lot of work. We had volunteers from Ogden besides other parts of the U.S. and from Denmark, Canada, and Sweden.

I got involved in curling prior to the Olympics and have been doing it ever since. It is a truly remarkable sport and definitely worthy of Olympic status.
