Olympic memories - Renee Gardner

Standard-Examiner readers were invited to share their favorite 2002 Winter Olympic memories:

I was a volunteer assigned to work with the opening closing ceremonies cast operations. I couldn’t believe how lucky I was to be given this assignment!

My job was checking in the members of the cast at each of the rehearsals. I was also lucky enough to be able to watch the practices and see the show come together. It was thrilling!

I got to work with some of the best people I have ever met. Two of my daughters were in the cast so getting to spend time with them was wonderful.

My favorite memory of the games was during the opening ceremonies. I remember like it was yesterday standing backstage at the base of the cauldron with a daughter on each side watching the flame go up the base and out the top.

What a priceless memory I got to share with my girls.
