Standard-Examiner readers were invited to share their 2002 Winter Olympic memories:
My wife and I were volunteers working with the Figure Skating competition. We were assigned to provide sound support for the practices and had an opportunity to interface with many of the world's best.
My wife did the announcing and I managed the sound system. One morning at the Delta Center we were preparing the CDs to be used later in the day by the competitors during practice. This very young lady walked into our technical room and asked if we could play her CD.
It was Sasha Cohen and her coach. She danced her way through the program on the rug in the middle of the room complete with jumps (just one turn) and the rest of her moves.
We later saw the same program on the ice. She finished fourth in the 2002 Games.
