LOGAN -- Perhaps it's a good time for the Aggies to jump out of the WAC, at least for a week.
Utah State (13-13) will continue its season-long five-game homestand with a non-conference game against Montana Tech (11-11) tonight, then follow it up with an ESPN Bracketbuster game against UC Santa Barbara on Saturday.
Both games are set for 7 p.m. in the Smith Spectrum.
The Aggies dropped a home conference battle on Saturday to New Mexico State, a game the Aggies were until the final minutes.
"They turned up the heat a little bit with their athleticism, and we couldn't get anything done," Stew Morrill said after the game. "It's disappointing because it just keeps happening, with three or four minutes to go we are right there, we are in a position where we can win and we don't make plays."
USU is led by sophomore guard Preston Medlin who is averaging 15.5 points, 3.9 rebounds and 2.9 assists per game. Senior guard Brockeith Pane is averaging 11.8 points and 3.9 assists, while junior forward Kyisean Reed is averaging 10.6 points, 5.1 rebounds and 1.1 blocks per game.
Montana Tech, an NAIA team out of Butte, Mont., is 11-11 on the season following a 63-55 home win against Montana State-Northern in its last game. The Orediggers, are led by freshman guard/forward Adam Greger who is averaging 12.1 points and 4.2 rebounds per game.
Montana Tech played Utah Valley Monday night in an exhibition contest.
* 4 AT MONTANA STATE CITED WITH MISDEMEANORS: Four Montana State University athletes have been cited with misdemeanors after an incident that sent basketball player Xavier Blount to the hospital.
Police were called around 1:15 a.m. Sunday to a Bozeman, Mont., bar where a bouncer said a man was found barely conscious on the back porch.
Details are sketchy, but the Bozeman Daily Chronicle reports Blount was cited with disorderly conduct and being a minor with alcohol. Bobcats linebacker Roger Trammell was cited with misdemeanor assault. Sprinter Christopher Wilson was cited with disorderly conduct and unlawful use of a driver's license. Defensive tackle Zach Minter was cited with unlawful use of a driver's license.
Blount's stepfather says Blount had shoulder and facial injuries. Montana State sports information director Bill Lamberty says the injuries could end Blount's season.

The Wildcats briefly pulled ahead midway through the second half, and were within 55-51 when Rodney McGruder knocked down a jumper with 1:14 left. But they came up empty on their next three trips, unable to take advantage of the Jayhawks' balky foul shooting.
McGruder finished with 12 points for Kansas State, while Will Spradling had 10. The Jayhawks used a big first-half run en route to a 67-49 win last month.
