17-year-old boy killed by TRAX train in W. Jordan

WEST JORDAN -- A 17-year-old boy is dead after he was struck by a TRAX train in what West Jordan police are calling a suicide.

Police say witnesses reported the boy stepped onto the tracks near 8600 South and 3200 West at about 7:20 p.m. Monday.

It's the same intersection where 15-year-old Shariah Casper was killed in June.

The Utah Transit Authority had removed a sound wall that blocked visibility and made other safety changes in the wake of Casper's death.

The identity of the teen boy killed Monday has not yet been released.
