Utah gas prices up 17 cents in past month

SALT LAKE CITY -- Utah has lost its title as the state with the nation's cheapest gas after the average price jumped 17 cents in the past month.

AAA says Tuesday that the average price of $3.09 per gallon is up 38 cents from the same time last January. Utah now has the nation's fourth lowest gas prices.

The Ogden area has the cheapest gas in the state with an average price of $3.03 per gallon. St. George gas is the highest in the state at $3.20 per gallon, while most Salt Lake City residents are paying $3.05.

Utah numbers are lower than the national average price of $3.51 per gallon.

Hawaii has the highest average price at $4.20 per gallon.
