Chevron robber pleads guilty

FARMINGTON — A man police say robbed a Chevron convenience store to get money to buy an Xbox has pleaded guilty.

Dustin Lee Ferguson, 18, of Layton, on Thursday entered the guilty plea to third-degree felony attempted robbery and one count of threat of violence, a class B misdemeanor.

A sentencing hearing is set for March 29.

Ferguson was originally charged with second-degree felony robbery.

Police said he entered a Chevron station convenience store at 1716 S. Main St. in Clearfield on Jan. 17, told the employees he had a gun and robbed the store.

Ferguson told police he needed the money to buy an Xbox.

The second defendant in the case, Timothy David Thomasson, 21, of Layton, also appeared in court Thursday. He is charged with second-degree felony robbery.

Another hearing for Thomasson has been set for Thursday. Police said he was the driver of the get-away car.
