Ogden man arrested after demanding police give him ride home

OGDEN -- Carlos Tipiani, 27, was arrested Friday after trying to use the police as a taxi.

Tipiani had walked to the Walmart at 21st Street and Wall Avenue, but was surprised that it was not open at 5 a.m. Friday.

He called 911 on his cellphone demanding an officer give him a ride home, according to the Ogden Police Department.

A dispatcher offered him a cab, but he insisted an officer take him home because he is an Ogden resident and felt the police had nothing better to do, police say.

An officer showed up but took the caller to Weber County Jail instead for 911 reporting abuse. This was not the first time the man had abused 911, and the police had talked to him about this before, said Lt. Tony Fox.
