ST. GEORGE -- A former "American Idol" semifinalist from Utah has been arrested on warrants alleging two counts of misdemeanor theft.
Twenty-year-old Tamara Taylor Vaifanua was released from Washington County Jail near St. George after posting $2,529 bail Thursday, a day after she was arrested in her Southern Utah hometown of Hurricane, police say.
According to court documents, the alleged thefts took place in the Sandy area in September 2010. No details of the thefts were immediately available.
The arrest warrants were issued after Vaifanua failed to appear in court on the charges.
No new court date was immediately set.
In 2008, Vaifanua made it into the top 36 contestants of "American Idol" before being eliminated.
