Congressman: Hill facing tough times ahead

SALT LAKE CITY — Hill Air Force Base’s future will see some difficulties, says Rep. Rob Bishop, R-Utah.

The congressman spoke to Utah lawmakers Thursday about issues Utah and the nation are facing.

Rep. Brad Wilson, R-Kaysville, asked Bishop about the base’s future and how it will impact Utah.

Bishop said the funding for the military overall “is very frightening.”

The jobs at Hill Air Force Base are essential to the nation’s defense, he said, but with cuts being proposed, Utah lawmakers should fund the Utah Defense Alliance in order to keep as many jobs at the base as possible.
