City plans donation to air-show fund

CLEARFIELD — The city is showing its support by agreeing to be a sponsor for the upcoming air show.

Hill Air Force Base will hold its annual open house and air show May 26 and 27. It requested the city be part of that by sponsoring the event with a cash donation. The city council recently approved, by resolution, a donation of $2,500.

The city and the base have had a mutually beneficial cooperative relationship since it opened in 1940, according to the approved resolution. It further states that this free event helps people understand the role of the Air Force in national defense while also having an economic impact of more than $60 million.

Because of that, the resolution states, it is necessary and appropriate to provide support for the event.
