FARMINGTON -- An 18-year-old man who had been held in Farmington Bay Youth Correction Center has been moved to Davis County Jail and is facing felony charges in a gang-related shooting.
Daniel Alonso Garcia, 18, of Clearfield, was booked in the jail on Wednesday in lieu of a $50,000 bail after a juvenile court judge certified him as an adult.
Garcia was arrested in January by Clearfield police when he was still 17. His birthday was Jan. 28.
Garcia is charged with discharge of a firearm with serious bodily injury with a gang enhancement, first-degree felony; attempted murder, first-degree felony; riot, third-degree felony; and possession of a dangerous weapon, a class B misdemeanor. Police said Garcia shot Darrell Morris, 35, two times on Jan. 6.
Garcia's first court appearance in 2nd District Court is set for March 5.
Also charged in the case are Roberto Gonzalez, 18, of Clearfield, with third-degree felony riot and Johny Alexander Curara, 21, of Layton, with second-degree felony obstruction of justice.
