Lady Gaga goes to Harvard, launches youth foundation

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. -- Lady Gaga and Oprah Winfrey are sitting down for a chat at Harvard University to launch the singer's Born This Way Foundation.

The pop star and famous talk-show host sat Wednesday in front of a group of more than 1,100 students, faculty and invited guests as Oprah interviewed Gaga about the foundation.

The singer said the foundation's goal is to empower youth and inspire bravery. The foundation shares a name with her hit 2011 single and album, "Born This Way," a song whose lyrics describe self-empowerment.

Earlier Wednesday, Lady Gaga caused a sensation on the Ivy League campus when she arrived in Harvard Yard in a sleek black dress, tall hat and platform shoes. She signed autographs and posed for photos as students yelled, "We love you, Lady Gaga."
