SALT LAKE CITY -- Transportation Safety Administration officials say a loaded gun found at the Salt Lake City airport is the fifth firearm they've confiscated there this year.
Authorities say they found a .22-caliber gun Tuesday afternoon in the carry-on bag of a man headed to Las Vegas.
The man was arrested on a state charge, and the gun and ammunition were confiscated.
TSA officers around the country found more than 1,300 firearms in carry-on bags last year.
Agents found 34 guns at Salt Lake City checkpoints in 2011.
Firearms, ammunition, and realistic replicas of firearms are always banned in carry-on baggage.
