LOGAN — Officials have cut the ribbon on Utah State University’s new $43 million agriculture sciences building.
The 125,000-square-foot facility on the school’s historic quad replaces a building that was constructed in 1953.
After the ceremony Wednesday afternoon, agriculture, applied economics, journalism and communications departments will be moving into the building.
The new facility features solar panels on its south side. Those are funded by a grant from the state of Utah that supports solar construction.
The building opens 150 years after President Abraham Lincoln signed the Morrill Act, which established land grant institutions in the United States.
