NEW YORK CITY — Kelsey Nixon, a North Ogden native turned cooking show host, on Thursday made a first appearance on NBC’s morning show, “Today.”

Nixon, 27, demonstrated a recipe for lemon-scented skillet chicken thighs for segment hosts Savannah Guthrie and Natalie Morales.

While a student at Brigham Young University in Provo, Nixon shot more than 100 episodes of her own cable show, “Kelsey’s Kitchen.”

In 2008, Nixon was one of the final four contestants on season four of “The Next Food Network Star.”

Nixon got her own Cooking Channel show, “Kelsey’s Essentials,” in 2010. Local cable subscribers can find the Cooking Channel on Channel 131.
