Hearing continued in nunchakus case

FARMINGTON -- The sentencing hearing for a man who police say assaulted his wife with nunchakus has been continued until March 26.

Andrew James Lukenbach, 31, of Centerville, appeared in 2nd District Court on Monday to be sentenced on three misdemeanors.

His attorney, Mark Arrington, said the hearing was continued until March 26 because the Division of Child and Family Services also has a case filed against Lukenbach.

Lukenbach originally was charged with two counts of aggravated assault and one count of domestic violence in the presence of a child, all third-degree felonies.

He pleaded guilty Jan. 23 to two counts of attempted aggravated assault, class A misdemeanors, and one count of obstructing justice, a class B misdemeanor.

Police said Lukenbach hit his wife and her friend, a man, with nunchakus when they pulled up in front of the Lukenbach home on June 11, 2011. Three children witnessed the episode.
