SALT LAKE CITY -- Military members assigned to Utah will be able to pay in-state tuition at colleges and universities.

House Bill 124, sponsored by Rep. Curt Oda, R-Clearfield, and Sen. Scott Jenkins, R-Plain City, was approved by the Senate, 27-0 with two absent, Thursday. The bill now goes to the governor.

The bill adds reservists and National Guard members who are assigned to Utah and their families as residents for tuition purposes. It also adds veterans and their families who choose to live in Utah as long as they can prove they plan to make the state their primary residence.
