Amber Alert ends after 10-year-old W. Valley girl found safe

WEST VALLEY CITY -- Police have canceled an Amber Alert for a 10-year-old girl after she was found safe.

Authorities issued the alert Friday afternoon for Aliyah Crowder after she was reportedly taken from Silver Hills Elementary in West Valley City.

Her mother, 38-year-old Venus Athena Barker, was suspected in the case.

Police say she initially refused to cooperate but agreed to comply after negotiations for several hours with authorities.

Police said in a release early Friday that the child is in their custody and will be reunited her with her biological father as soon as circumstances permit.

No other details were immediately available.
