Weber State student lands White House internship

OGDEN -- A Weber State University college student who hails from Sandy has been selected as one of about 150 White House interns for spring 2012.

White House officials say Tuesday that Kirsten Anderson has been chosen for the program. She's the only participant who calls Utah home.

Interns are placed in one of several White House departments, including the Office of Communications, the Office of the Vice President and the Office of the First Lady.

Officials say the program's mission is to make the White House accessible to future leaders, and to prepare students for public service.

The deadline for applying to the fall 2012 internship program is April 1.
