Contractor honored for Layton High

LAYTON — A Centerville construction company has received national recognition from the American Concrete Institute for its work in renovating Layton High School.

Ascent Construction received the 2012 ACI Excellence in Concrete Award. The company served as the general contractor on the remodel and expansion of Layton High’s commons and cafeteria area, said Bob Murri, Ascent Construction spokesman.

To accommodate the growth in Layton and extend the life of the school, Davis School District approved a $23 million upgrade for the 47-year-old high school at 440 Lancer Lane.

Part of that upgrade includes a 23,000-square-foot flooring project by Ascent Construction, Murri said.
