OGDEN -- An internationally recognized evangelist speaker will highlight a free spring revival that organizers say area youth, especially, won't want to miss.
Evangelist Joyce Rodgers, an internationally recognized speaker and evangelist and the CEO of Primary Purpose Ministries in Carrollton, Texas, will speak at a "Youth Explosion" spring revival sponsored by Griffin Memorial Church of God in Christ.
The event will take place at 7 p.m. Friday at the church, 2424 "E" Ave. in Ogden.
In her biography, Rodgers defines Primary Purpose Ministries as "a life-changing ministry that reaches beyond beliefs, ethnicities, religious persuasions and cultural restrictions to release people into their purposed destinies."
She also is the leader of the international youth department of the Church of God in Christ.
"We believe people would be touched and be blessed by hearing her," said Bishop Bobby Allen, who is bishop of the Utah jurisdiction of the Church of God in Christ and pastor over the Griffin Memorial Church.
"We are inviting everyone to come and join us in that night," he said. "She is a dynamic speaker."
"She is a dynamic minister in life and The Word," said Eloise Snell, a church member and coordinator of this event. "Youth usually flock to her."
But Snell said adults also will benefit from Rodgers' message.
"We want everyone to feel and have this explosion, young and old," Snell said.
"It's springtime and spring brings about new change," Allen said. "She is perfect for this."
"A life season change has come," states posters advertising the revival. "Get ready to be blessed of the Lord!"
Rodgers' biography describes her as "a woman of profound intercession coupled with a passion to minister healing to hurting people." Her book, Fatal Distractions, (Charisma House, $13.99) has been called a flagship work on what uncovers the roadblocks that keep people from fulfilling their destinies. The book is a best-seller and is available in both English and Spanish, according to the biography.
Rodgers' ministry includes an evangelistic outreach to foreign countries and supports community efforts, disaster reliefs and displaced families in both natural and domestic calamities.
Her ministry has launched campaigns such as "I've Got Your Back!," which supplies backpacks to school-aged children.
Her financial support includes efforts such as the African Children's Choir, Dallas Hospice Center and the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. She also provides financial scholarships to deserving students.
