Washington Terrace budget earns excellence award

WASHINGTON TERRACE — The city of Washington Terrace received a distinguished award for its budget on Wednesday.

The Government Finance Officers Association gave the city its Distinguished Budget Presentation Award, the only national award in governmental budgeting, according to a GFOA news release.

A city’s budget must be rated “proficient” as a policy document, a financial plan, an operations guideline and as a communications device, according to national guidelines, to receive the award, the release states.

The Washington Terrace finance department also received a certificate of recognition, which is part of the award, for being primarily responsible for the city’s win.
