Police find naked dead man near railroad tracks

NORTH SALT LAKE — Police are investigating the discovery of the nude body of man Sunday morning next to FrontRunner tracks in North Salt Lake as a suspicious death.

A FrontRunner worker spotted the body around 7:30 a.m. near 1800 North and Beck Street and then notified authorities, said Sgt. Mitch Gwilliam, of the North Salt Lake Police Department.

The man has been identified, but police have not released his information other than that he is Caucasian.

The victim does not appear to have any obvious signs of significant trauma or have injuries consistent with being struck by the FrontRunner, Gwilliam said in a phone interview from the crime scene.

The body had not been removed from the location near the tracks Sunday afternoon. Officials from the North Salt Lake City Police Department, the Davis County Sheriff’s Office, the Utah Attorney General’s Office and the state Medical Examiner’s Office were still collecting evidence from the scene.

Police are attempting to determine how the body ended up by the tracks, Gwilliam said.
