Wildcats jump back into softball action with Tuesday doubleheader

OGDEN – Looking to bounce back from a pair of disappointing losses in front of their home fans,, the Weber State softball team will host a doubleheader on Tuesday afternoon at Wildcat Softball Field.

Coach Tina Johnson's Wildcats will take on the University of Great Falls for a pair of games, beginning at 2 p.m.

Weber State enters the game at 7-13 overall, the team’s best 20-game record since bringing back softball for the 2010 season. But, the 'Cats are coming off a pair of defeats to in-state rival Dixie State last week in Ogden.

Great Falls is 5-17 overall and will be playing for the first time since March 11 after having a four-game series against Eastern Oregon canceled due to inclement weather over the weekend.

Senior second baseman Symbree Minniear leads Weber State with a .443 batting averaging, recording a team-high 27 hit. Senior third baseman Lyndsey Minnich has a team-best 29 RBIs, with 24 hits and 19 runs scored. Minnich needs just two RBIs to become the Wildcats’ career leader.

Senior right-hander Sarah Clark had her three-game win streak snapped in taking the loss to Dixie State last week, but leads the team with a 6-5 record and a 3.77 ERA in 14 appearances.

After Tuesday’s doubleheader, Weber State will travel to Boise, Idaho, to take part in the SpringHill Suites Invitational, where the Wildcats will face five opponents in a three-day span.
