OGDEN -- Police are investigating a pair of suspects arrested for burglary, including the theft of eight firearms.
Ogden police arrested Christopher McAfee, 19, and Ruben Rodriguez, 20, Monday after their yellow SUV was stopped because the vehicle matched the description of one leaving the scene of a burglary in the 1300 block of Liberty Avenue.
"It was excellent work by all of the officers involved, for being inquisitive, as well as their observational skills," Police Lt. Scott Conley said.
The suspects had items matching the description of the stolen property in plain view, Conley said. The suspects said the items belonged to a relative, but the victim was able to identify a piece of property stolen from his home.
After obtaining a search warrant, Conley said, officers found numerous firearms in the vehicle, including shotguns, assault rifles and pistols.
The majority of the weapons are tied to a burglary earlier that day on the 500 block of 1st Street.
"We're continuing to investigate to see if they are involved with any other incidents," Conley said.
So far, the suspects are accused of two counts of burglary and eight counts of theft of a firearm. McAfee faces an additional charge of unlawful possession/consumption.
