KINGMAN, Ariz. -- Northern Arizona authorities say a Utah couple escaped injury after their single-engine aircraft had to make an emergency landing.
Mohave County Sheriff's deputies responded to the incident Wednesday morning on a dirt road about 45 miles south of St. George, Utah on the Arizona Strip.
Deputies say 66-year-old pilot Robert Fuke, of St. George, and his wife weren't injured.
Fuke says the couple was en route to Phoenix when the engine of the 1966 Beechcraft began to run rough and eventually stopped working.
He says he landed the plane successfully even though the landing gear failed to operate.
Authorities say there was no reported fuel leakage and the Federal Aviation Administration has been notified of the emergency landing.
