Sunken car, dead driver pulled from Utah Lake

AMERICAN FORK -- Officials are investigating after a car with a person inside was discovered submerged in Utah Lake.

Utah County Sheriff's Lt. Darren Gilbert says a fisherman spotted the tail end of the car above the water on Thursday just before midnight.

The car had sunk into about eight feet of water by the time emergency crews arrived. A dive team that swam to the vehicle found a person was inside.

Crews pulled the vehicle from the water and have been trying to identify the driver to notify family members.

The car had entered the water near the American Fork boat dock. Gilbert tells KSL (http://bit.ly/GQveBx) investigators are treating it as an unintended death.
