SALT LAKE CITY -- Officials say Utah's unemployment rate held steady at 5.7 percent in February, while the job count was 2.5 percent higher than a year ago.
The state Department of Workforce Services says Friday that 76,400 Utah residents were unemployed in February. Utah remains well below the national jobless rate of 8.3 percent.
Utah has added 30,100 jobs in the past 12 months, raising the non-farm wage and salaried employment count to more than 1.2 million. The business and professional services sector led the way with 6,000 more positions in the past year. That sector includes high-paying technical industries such as computer systems design and market research.
Government is the lone sector not adding jobs.
