Biggest sports thrill: "When our catcher got hurt my sophomore year and I came into my first varsity game and hit a home run against Bingham."

Best advice I've ever received: "Relax and just hit the ball."

Last week: Haramoto went a combined 5-for-8 with a double and three RBIs, including a suicide squeeze, as the defending state 3-A champion Bears improved to 6-2 by defeating Region 11 opponents Tooele and Stansbury.

Haramoto on her performance: "I think we're going to do well but it's going to be a harder year and we're going to have to push ourselves more. We've started off really strong hitting the ball. Right now we're working toward taking region and then taking it one step at a time and really working as a team."

Coach Calvin Bingham on Haramoto: "She understands the game. She's just a real team player and is always supporting everyone else. She's an outstanding young lady. She works hard and gives you 100 percen every day."

After high school: "I'm planning on going to college and studying english with an emphasis on literature and hopefully becoming a teacher or a professor."
