Weber County building evacuated due to smoke smell Tuesday

OGDEN — Occupants evacuated an auxiliary building at the Weber County Human Services offices Tuesday morning after smelling smoke.

A fire alarm went off around 8:45 a.m. at 238 27th St. next to an adult residential facility.

Ogden Fire Chief Chad Tucker said a ballast from a fluorescent light overheated and caused the smoke odor.

Firefighters searched the building and never found smoke or a fire.

There were no injuries and no further indication of damage to the building.
