16-year-old killed in Farmington crosswalk ID’d

FARMINGTON  — Police have identified a 16-year-old boy who died after being struck by a vehicle while walking his bicycle in a crosswalk across a Farmington street.

Farmington Police Chief Wayne Hansen says Andrew Tolman was struck by a Ford SUV just after 6 p.m. Tuesday on State Street, just east of Interstate 15.

Hansen says Tolman suffered severe head trauma and died while a medical helicopter was taking him to the University of Utah Medical Center in Salt Lake City.

Hansen says no charges were immediately filed against the driver.

The 29-year-old woman remained at the scene with the SUV and summoned police after the accident.

Hansen says she told investigators she was driving west and had trouble seeing because of the glare from the setting sun.
