OGDEN — Four young people ran naked through the street, one armed with a BB gun, early Sunday morning.
Around 2 a.m. Sunday, a male reported that his girlfriend saw three males and a female streaking along Bonneville Terrace Drive, near 5200 South, according to the Weber County Sheriff’s Office. The news release from the sheriff’s office also indicates that the girlfriend saw one of the males carrying a BB gun.
The area is just to the southeast of the Ogden city limits in a residential area of unincorporated Weber County.
A deputy arrived and saw four naked people running north on Bonneville Terrace Drive toward the path that cuts over to Ridgedale Drive in Ogden.
The deputy followed them and found the naked female hiding behind a pine tree, but the three males initially eluded him.
Deputies kept looking for the remaining streakers and found them nearby a short time later.
One of the males was 18 years old and the other three were 17, said Weber County Sheriff’s Lt. Matt Bell.
They said they thought it would be funny to go streaking “like in American Pie” and did not think anyone would see them at 2 a.m., according to the report. The 2006 film “American Pie Presents: The Naked Mile” involves the main characters participating in a college tradition of streaking across campus.
Asked why they were carrying a BB gun, the streakers said they were scared of being attacked by a deer, the report states.
The young people’s parents were contacted, and the four were released with a warning.
Of the incident, Bell said, “This was very uncommon.”
