CASTLE DALE -- Authorities say a minor earthquake rumbled in a rural area of Utah's Emery County, but a sheriff's dispatcher says she heard no reports that any people felt it.

The U.S. Geological Survey says the magnitude 3.4 temblor occurred at 11:22 a.m. about five miles northwest of the town of Emery and 13 miles southwest of Ferron.

The area is in the eastern Wasatch Plateau, about 125 miles southeast of Salt Lake City.
